Steam controller doesn't work

I've tried using a steam controller on both kodi and retroarch with no avail.
Doesn't even detect it as mouse and keyboard.
I've found a driver, but it needs python and pip to work.
Any way to make the controller work on openelec?

I have a orangi pi pc.
