The Rice Purity Testis a 100-question self-assessment originally developed by students at Rice University in Houston, Texas. It was first introduced as a way for college freshmen to reflect on their life experiences and bond with one another in a lighthearted, non-judgmental way. Over time, it has gained popularity beyond Rice, especially among teens and college students around the world.
The test asks participants to answer "yes" or "no" to a list of personal questions. These questions range from innocent behaviors—such as holding hands, staying up all night, or being in love—to more mature or risky actions, including drinking alcohol, engaging in sexual activity, using drugs, or committing illegal acts. Each "yes" answer lowers the total score from a perfect 100, indicating fewer "pure" experiences. The lower the score, the more experienced the individual is considered to be.
