New to OrangePI (2g IOT) - Problem booting from SD card.

Hi there,

I am new to the world of of OrangePI_2G_IOT, although I do have experience with RaspberryPi, Beaglebone Black and Arduino.

I have downloaded OrangePi 2G-IOT Ubuntu.rar from the link at www.orangepi.org.
Formatted 4GB Class 4 SD with SD Card formatter.
Uncompressed the .rar file, then use Win32imager to install the .img file to the SD card.


When I insert the SD card into the OrangePi2GIOT, with the boot jumper in the position to boot from SD card, I get random charaters from the serial port.  There is also no Red LED illuminated.
It looks like I get the same result when I boot with no SD card inserted, with the jumper in the same position as before.
I have my serial terminal set for 115200 8 1 no parity.


Can anyone offer some advice?

Hi friend, for now the 2G-IOT could only support 8GB SD card, and the rate should set into 921600

Thank you guys - I switched to a different USB to serial converter and it is working now (or booting).

Now it is not connecting to my local wifi network

Ideally your SD card has to be 8 GB class 10. Otherwise the board Will not work properly. A 5V 2A Power supply os also required for optimal use. Take a read on the user manual there are good initial instructions. What did you do to set up Wi Fi. There is normally no problem by going 'Orange_Pi Settings' and then 'Wi Fi Settings'. It is pretty intuitive actually. Good Luck!
